Welcome to our ever evolving website! |

Yes, Welcome! |

We are in the early stages of evolving this website for commemorating the life and work of His Holiness, The Dalai Lama. Well the evolving part we hope may remain for the life of our website and the reason for this may become ever more clear as the website evolves.As prelude to the more complex background story of the ever evolving website there is one action of His Holiness that may assist in an understanding. |
||
I am Jim, one of the originating authors of the website and I am married to Dolkat Lhamo: a singer of Tibetan opera as is much beloved of his Holiness. We have a daughter Tenzin Choenzin who is now five years old as this website begins.When his holiness visited Adelaide June of last year he stopped and spoke with Choenzin as one of the many children lined up to greet him at the airport.Afterwards a friend commented on this privilege and said to Choenzin, "So His Holiness spoke with you?" "Of course! " our then little four year old replied, "He knows me ... He gave me my name!"By what is a normal process, His Holiness puts a name and an application for a name together by his own hand. Dolkar's sister had applied for this before Choenzin was born and when the name came she was delighted and exclaimed "She is going to be a girl!" because His Holiness had chosen a girl's name. I was a bit worried by this because we hadn't extended the ultrasound to that assessment and I didn't want to embarrass the Dalai Lama. However .. of course Dolkar's faith and knowledge has been upheld and we have our lovely daughter. |

The key to this story is this, however, the name Choenzin means 'Keeper of the Sacred Dharma.'Well ...for Choenzin to live up to her name in this day and age we need websites, development and access for anything at all to be kept .. hence this website to help her keep at it's essence The Dharma and the sacred teachings of it to be gradually assembled in it's own special library over time and accessible the world over through links to other sites ... and meanwhile what better focus could there be than the life and work of His Holiness himself who's life has been devoted to the teaching and expression of the Dharma? |
